It’s the teachers! I loved English lit and one rubbish teacher managed to completely destroy Gatsby for me, they pick up on things that make no sense. It’s just a comma not a metpaphor for God.
bad teachers are the worst. i mean, i know when a book is published, it is open to any interpretation and the author’s intention of the text arguably doesn’t matter because they just want to challenge us to think critically, but certain things lit. teachers pick up on are just ridiculous!
